Dust Never Sleeps

In an April 1 letter to the Queensboro President's Office, the HPCC and the Long Island City Community Gardens listed continual construction-related problems. The groups requested the issues be added to the April 9th Queens West Task Force meeting agenda. The following are major issues: excessive amount of grit and articulate in the air. construction schedule. signage and generators on Vernon Boulevard. contact hours and phone numbers for nights & weekends. disorderly conditions and amount of unsecured debris left at construction sites. The HPCC and the LICCG "would like to resolve them as soon as possible so as to minimize the stress and feelings of disenfranchisement that ongoing construction in a community can create." To avoid producing hazardous airborne dust, the project is required by law to water down the construction area, which they continually fail to do.
