This Saturday 9/25 - come out and enjoy what'll most likely be the last warm Indian Summer weekend of 2004 - sip stiff drinks on a gorgeous outdoor patio - in the shadow of the Midtown skyline - surrounded by tiki torches, listenning to some awesome bands.

COP ON FIRE is a new double drummed insanity rush from Joel (x Parts & Labor), Oran (x X27, current Child Abuse), Robert Paredez (Young Sinners) and friends.

BIG BEAR is a co-ed five-piece from Boston playing disjointed metallic art punk. Swirling bass feedback swells and syncronous angular double guitar - and floating atop it Jordyn Bonds' urgent, desparate female vocals. Unrelenting, frenetic, but equal parts dissonant and cathcy pop and melody - bringing to mind memories of early Sonic Youth or Unwound. http://bigbear.polarismine.com/

ZOMBI is like a Dario Argento movie played live - only just for your ears - from Two guys who used to play in the Microwaves & the 1985 paying homage to Goblin, Fabio Frizzi, John Carpenter, et al. One guy simultaneuously playing three handed on a pile of analog synths, another on simultaneous analog synth *and* drums - and just as much a 70's homage to synth prog like Tangerine Dream, Synergy and Jean-Michel Jarre and the like - "a dextrous, multi-instrumental duo, welding the moods and atmospheres synonymous with horror movies with the aggression and energy of their panic-rock roots." also - tonight Friday the 24th is CRITICAL MASS - the every-last-Friday-of-the-month-bike-ride all over Manhattan streets - returning to take back *OUR* streets following the police's attempts to scare us off during the Republican convention last month. no matter what the mainstream news is choosing not to report - JOHN KERRY has the momentum now in the presidential race. Several national polls have come out showing that Kerry has closed Bush's post-convention lead and has this race tied - even conservative pollsters like FoxNews and the Economist say so. And that's with polling that (a.) doesn't call anyone who only has a cell phone, and (b.) doesn't call anyone who isn't home during the dinner hour. Imagine how many unaccounted for anti-Bush voters are out there. So The momentum is on Kerry's side - but it's likely to stay close right up to the end - so it'll all be about how many voters from each side actually turnout this year. Remind everyone you know to register and vote, but also - it's important that as many folks as possible donate to the Democratic Party's get out the vote effort before the end of the month. What they get by October 1st will determine how they they can budget their resources for the last stretch. W e need to get as many folks as possible to the polls on election day.
