Apartment Hunting

My husband and I and Robert (our quite large but extremely laidback and well mannered canine family member) are looking for a 1 bedroom in LIC. Our lease on our large but somewhat less than comfortable Jackson Ave apt. (crap heating, no AC, faulty jalousie windows opening directly onto Jackson avenue, with all the noise and grime that suggests) is up in September, and we'd like to upgrade to a better place. We're quiet, stable, friendly non-smokers. I work at home (am actually getting well-paid for it, whoopee!), my husband nearby in Astoria. We are looking to pay no more than, say, $1,600 - less is always nice, of course.
